Jewellery from the ancient art of Lampworking by Shelah Pansegran

This ancient art dates back to 3500 BC where artisans jealously guarded the art of glass bead making. Lampworking is a technique of working glass using a torch fueled by propane and accelerated by oxygen. Coloured glass rods are heated until molten, then wound, mixed, raked, dotied and encased on a stainless steel mandrel. Molten glass is manipulated into various shapes using metal and graphite tools.
